The breath is an amazing powerful energy that breathes in you. This powerful energy is also called Prana. For thousands and thousands of years the yogis knew the power of the breath or Prana. When you speak of Prana, it’s the basic building block of the cosmos. This life force is the stuff the universe is made of. One thing about the breath is that the mind follows it and the body follows the mind. The rate and rhythm of the breath shows your state of mind. Notice when you’re feeling anxious your breath is short and shallow. Because of this fact, a person can have control over their mind and the reactions reflected in the body by conscious breathing. This means focusing your attention on each long deep inhalation and exhalation can bring a profound effect such as calming the mind, balancing the emotions, and experiencing an easygoing feeling within the body and mind. So to be in control of your emotions and help you think calmly and clearer, take long deep slow conscious breaths. When the conscious breath is combined with a positive affirming thought, it becomes a great tool for changing your thoughts and beliefs. I have taught in my yoga classes universal circulation of Prana Power which is compared to the love of a mother lovingly sustaining her baby in her womb.
